Blue Badge Guides gather for Annual General Meeting
Sixteen Blue Badge Guides met at Cumbria Tourism's Staveley Offices on Thursday, 6th November 2008.
Cumbria Tourist Guides, Registered Blue Badge Guides for the Lake District and Cumbria, have had a busy year showing a variety of visitors, from all over the world, the beauty of the landscape in this unique corner of England.
Alan Heppenstall was unanimously elected as Chairman of Cumbria Tourist Guides.
Quote from Sarah Hall:Being brought up here (Cumbria) has such an effect.I love it all.The practicality, reticence and the belligerence. The old fellas standing up in pubs and bursting into tears unabashed.
I love that combination, that's here in the culture and the rocks.I feel like I'm having a dialogue with it all the time.
Nature - the physical
world in terms of landscape, plants and animals as distinct from human
creations.
Definition - The Penguin
English Dictionary.
A congenital student of
natural history, Beatrix Potter is as frequently underestimated today as she
was during her lifetime.Born on 26th
July 1866 at Bolton Gardens, Kensington, London, Beatrix lived her 77 years in
nature and for nature.
Until 2007, when this hefty
and expensive tome was published, it has been both arduous and complex to find
the annals relating to Beatrix Potter, her friends and her family.
This new biography probes
into the family history of an inquisitive, interested woman. The book goes someway to explain her ancestry. However, a diagram showing genealogical
descent would be useful and is a worthwhile exercise for readers to understand
this modest woman of unquestionable genius.
